The El Capitan coaches should be commended for their defensive game plan vs. Grossmont. Grossmont runs a no huddle passing offense that puts a lot of pressure on the defense and has scored in bunches against some good teams (e.g., 46 points vs. Granite Hills). The Grossmont receivers were tightly covered and the Grossmont QB was pressured on almost every pass attempt (he threw for 4,000 yds this year) and sacked numerous times.
Ron Burner and staff have put together another solid team. Ron’s one of the best in the County. I think I’m just as surprised that the Vaqueros scored “only” 35 points.
